[Inspired by the aesthetics of the temporarily disabled showcases of large urban centers, Temporário [Temporary] is a work that he deals with the transposition of this gesture to the collage. A large-scale showcase, illuminated from the inside, locked, but instead of some product on display, it carries only large sheets of paper. This series was created in the context of the 2008 recession, a time when store closures and storefronts covered with paper became a common sight. Cinthia Marcelle poetically captures this moment of suspension, of doubt, caused by the shock in the market as the entity that dictates all the rules of the game. The showcase occupies a space between doubt, waiting and interrogation. Drawing from that reality, the artist explores the idea of temporary and transitional spaces. In much of her work, Cinthia Marcelle proposes alternative ways of seeing and organizing society, challenging traditional hierarchies of objects. The viewer’s gaze is redirected to the surface, where materials such as kraft paper, paint on glass, or aluminum become the focal points, disrupting visual expectations. This merging of the visible and invisible, background and foreground, is a recurring concern in the artist’s practice, present in other series and interventions as well.]
