A noção de “reparo” é um conceito central na obra de Tonico Lemos Auad, que o artista explora tanto por meio dos métodos que emprega na execução das obras em tecido quanto na escolha da madeira de reuso como matéria-prima das esculturas. Outro importante foco de interesse do artista são as práticas e técnicas artesanais passadas através de gerações, como o bordado e o entalhe em madeira ou pedra; muitas delas à beira da extinção no âmbito da economia global. The notion of “repair” is a central concept in the work of Tonico Lemos Auad, which the artist explores both through the methods he employs in the execution of works in fabric and in the choice of reused wood as the raw material for the sculptures. Another important focus of interest for the artist is the craft practices and techniques passed down through generations, such as embroidery and carving in wood or stone; many of them on the brink of extinction within the global economy.
