--- In 1969, Cildo Meireles stopped drawing. He immersed himself in the so-called conceptual art - category that he refuses to accept wholeheartedly - and began the construction of one of the most important careers in visual arts in Latin America. In 1973, he started drawing again and never stopped. It is the most constant portion of his work and the least known. "I was childish when I stopped. The drawing is very revealing to me, as it allows me to immediately express what is in my head, with a minimum of materiality. It is a kind of automatic writing, done without blocking". In this 1973 "Untitled" work, the artist stamps his own prints on paper. The drawings cannot be discarded in the reflections on Cildo's work. They serve as a reference to explain the genesis and metamorphosis of three-dimensional works. The designs range from the expressionism gestures of his teenage years to the more assertive and delicate traces of his adulthood.
