For her exhibition at MCA Denver, Clarissa Tossin uses sculpture, weavings, and works on paper to underscore the fragility of human and non-human life on this planet and potentially in other celestial bodies in Space. This gallery includes two newly commissioned works by Tossin: a silicone cast of a peach tree from Tossin's garden in Los Angeles and a cast of an astronaut suit made from meteorite powder, soil and tree bark mixed with silicone. The cast of the peach tree, which perished due to heat waves and drought in Los Angeles, is a memorial to the life forms, including humans, who have suffered the consequences of climate change, an aftereffect of greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation.
