As obras do artista Mateo López (1978, Bogotá) cruzam as fronteiras entre os diferentes suportes, combinando planos e materiais para propor meios de ocupar o espaço. Frequentemente, desenvolve obras que desenham uma atmosfera lúdica, convidando à interação e ao movimento. Staccato (2021) possui a estrutura de um tripé de madeira que lembra um compasso, reforçando a concepção de possíveis desenhos no espaço. Esta estrutura carrega sobre si um móbile de formas e cores variadas, que se sustentam em equilíbrio, mas podem ser deslocados conforme os estímulos externos do vento ou do próprio espectador. López incentiva-nos a criar uma relação com a obra, suas formas e possibilidades. Na música, staccato refere-se a uma sequência rápida de notas, em que cada uma destas faz-se nitidamente distinta da outra. Tocar o piano dessa forma significa bater nas teclas como num pulo de dedos, sem se demorar ali, criando uma melodia mais ou menos sincopada, mas com notas bem definidas. Assim, podemos entender a obra com as mãos, tocando-a em staccato — em uma pulsação de dedos, em que cada toque define a singularidade de cada elemento atingido na escultura.
