Glove Trotter: Galeria Luisa Strina

Overview

This work from 1991 consists of a series balls in different sizes, colors and materials, that were collected through the years and now lay on the floor. The balls are covered by a metallic mesh, like the ones used in the Medieval Age as armors. The title of the work is a clear reference to the expression ‘Globetrotter’,  and the concept of the work derives from act of throwing a net to capture a series of elements. This piece deals with universal objects (the sphere) against antique objects (the mesh). The final result has a high-tech  appareance in contrast to its materials.
